Our Girl Scout Community

There are a lot of people involved with the girls. Who's in involved?

  • Girl = Girl Scout
  • Troop = Group of Girls that meet together
  • Service Unit = A Community Group of Girl Scout Troops in an area. There are different names for each Service Unit (SU). There are 33 SUs in Girl Scouts of CA Central Coast.
  • Service Unit Volunteers = Adult operational volunteers, that help manage and support Girl Scout troops in their Service Unit community. These volunteers are sometimes leaders too, but we welcome and encourage parents and other adult volunteers.
  • Girl Scouts of CA Central Coast = This council is called Girl Scouts of CA's Central Coast (GSCCC). We serve 6 counties along the coast from Santa Cruz county to Ventura county. There are nearly a total of 40 staff persons divided into three departments (Membership, Fund Development, and Finance/Operational)
  • Girl Scout CCC Board: We have 4 volunteer boards. Three of them are regional. The 4th one is our Council Board. Our council board is comprised of regional board members who were voted in at Annual Meeting. For more information on becoming a volunteer through serving on our board- Email: Shari Bridges: sbridges@girlscoutsccc.org
  • Girl Scouts of United States of America: GSUSA headquarters is in New York, New York. They support local councils.
  • WAGGS: World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. This is the international organization. There are 6 world centers.
Together throughout the world our membership totals 3.2 million! Wow that is a lot. Know that when you join and volunteer with the girl scout community you have a lot of opportunity and support!
